I'm a thirteenth generation farmer from Suffolk, disillusioned with the returns from arable farming; I've been looking at alternative crops which could benefit the profitability of farms like my own. In October 2024 I was awarded a Nuffield scholarship to study walnuts and hazelnuts - a journey which has taken me across the world and changed my perspective of the potential of farming in the UK.
