Steven Newman

Professor Steven Newman is a senior natural resource, climate change and climate finance consultant. He has undertaken over 122 major assignments in over 63 countries. The work included managing many multi-million-pound investments in agroforestry and nature-based solutions worldwide leading to the planting of over 10 million trees. He is MD of BioDiversity International Ltd, and Visiting Professor in the Agriculture Department Reading University. His work on agroforestry and tree crops covers a period of 40 years with major projects in the UK, Europe, China, India and Cameroon. He is part of Abacus Agriculture and is advising UK farms and estates on profitable nut tree agroforestry options . He is lead editor of the leading textbook on "temperate agroforestry systems" now in third edition (in preparation). He also wrote the design chapter in the Soil association's Agroforestry Handbook (2nd edition in preparation).
