I have worked for Natural England (and predecessors) for 25 years as a woodland specialist, and last year accepted the role of Principal Officer for Woodland Creation. This is promoting the concept of right tree, right place, and ensuring that while ambitious targets for woodland creation are met, they are not doing so at the cost of nature recovery, but rather supporting it. This spring my team has taken on agroforestry advice in addition to woodland creation.
